Description:

The intelligent WLAN optimization concept LANCOM Active Radio Control (ARC) helps you to sustainably optimize your radio field and proactively avoid interference on the WLAN. As a collection of complementary features in the LANCOM operating system LCOS, Active Radio Control can help you to significantly improve the performance of your WLAN.

All of the Active Radio Control features are included for free in the LANCOM operating system LCOS and are operated with the user-friendly LANCOM Management System (LCMS).

Requirements:
  • LANCOM WLAN products with Active Radio Control support

Radio field optimization (RF optimization):
Automatic selection of optimum WLAN channels: WLAN clients benefit from improved throughput thanks to reduced channel overlaps. Throughout controller-based WLAN installations, the managed access points automatically use the optimal channels. The radio field optimization is available as of LCOS version 8.84.

Further information about radio-frequency optimization is available in the following Knowledgebase article .

Band Steering:
Make optimal use of your WLAN's bandwidth: Automatically controlled by the access point, clients steered to the 5-GHz frequency band can effectively double the WLAN performance because only here are sufficient channels available for channel bundling. Band Steering is available as of LCOS version 8.80.

Further information about band steering is available in the following Knowledgebase article .

Client Steering:
Client steering enables the LANCOM access points to help WLAN clients located within transmission range to connect to the best suited access point.

The necessary criteria are specified centrally on the LANCOM WLAN controller. Managed access points constantly report their current values to the LANCOM WLAN controller, which uses these criteria to decide which access points may respond to requests from WLAN clients.

For this reason, client steering is only possible with access points that are centrally managed by a WLAN controller. Client steering is available as of LCOS version 9.

Adaptive Noise Immunity:
Improved WLAN throughput thanks to immunity from interference: WLAN clients benefit from significantly more data throughput thanks to interference-free coverage. Enabling the adaptive noice immunity allows an access point to block out interfering signals and to focus exclusively on WLAN clients with sufficient signal strength. Adaptive Noise Immunity is available as of LCOS version 8.84.

Spectral Scan:
Check your WLAN radio spectrum for sources of interference: With LANCOM Spectral Scan, you have a professional tool for efficient WLAN troubleshooting. A scan of the entire radio spectrum identifies sources of interference external to the WLAN and provides a graphical representation. Spectral Scan is available as of LCOS version 8.80.
