| Description: Apple iOS devices, such as iPhones or iPads, check unencrypted wireless network connections to see whether Internet access is available, or whether a user has to login to a hotspot (captive portal). The mobile device does this by sending an HTTP request (GET) to one of several possible URLs, such as www.appleiphonecell.com. If the device receives an HTML page containing "Success", the device assumes that it can access the Internet without having to logon first. If the device does not receive this page, it starts a trimmed-down version of the browser to access the hotspot's login page. Apple calls this function the Captive Network Assistant (CNA). Hotspot operators often wish to avoid this behavior as this is not always user-friendly. This document describes how you can use "free networks" on the Public Spot to suppress this login page by simulating the availability of Internet access for mobile devices. Requirements:
