Description:

This document explains the pin-allocation of a twisted-pair cable.

Twisted pair cable:

For connecting a network card with a ’normal’ hub port one uses a (1-1)-cable:

Pin Colour Ethernet Colour Pin
----------------------------------------------------------------
1 orange transmit data + orange 1
2 orange/white transmit data - orange/white 2
3 green receive data + green 3
4 blue/white unused blue/white 4
5 blue unused blue 5
6 green/white receive data - green/white 6
7 brown unused brown 7
8 brown/white unused brown/white 8

Front view of the RJ45-connectors:

The colours green and red marking only RX (RD) and TX (TD)!
In short: 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 6-6
From the network card to the Ethernet connector of the NTBBA such a standard Ethernet-cable (UTP, CAT5) is being used.
A similar cable of the categories 3, 4 or 6 may also be used.)

Cross-over cable:
For connecting two network cards and/or hubs one uses a crossed cable (crossover-cable).
