Description:

The feature “Dynamic SIP line” allows multiple SIP lines to be combined and for calls to be distributed between the SIP lines according to different criteria.

This article describes how to set up a “Dynamic SIP line” on a LANCOM router.

Requirements:

Procedure:

1) Open the configuration of the router in LANconfig and switch to the menu item Voice Call Manager → Lines → Dynamic SIP line.

2) Create a new entry for each SIP line and adjust the following parameters. Three possible criteria are used to distribute the calls between the SIP lines.

2.1) Weight:
This algorithm distributes the calls to the SIP lines on a percentage basis (in this example 80 to 20%).

  • Dynamic line name: Enter a descriptive name. This has to be the same for all entries as this is referenced from the call routes.
  • SIP line name: For each entry, select one of the SIP lines from the drop-down menu.
  • Weight: For each entry, enter a percentage value used to distribute the calls between the SIP lines. The values should add up to 100%.
  • Algorithm: From the drop-down menu, select the option Weight. The same algorithm must be used in all entries.

2.2) Round-robin:
The calls are evenly distributed between the SIP lines. The first dynamic SIP line to be used is always the one that was configured first. If a call is in progress on the first line, a further call is established on the second line.

  • Dynamic line name: Enter a descriptive name. This has to be the same for all entries as this is referenced from the call routes.
  • SIP line name: For each entry, select one of the SIP lines from the drop-down menu.
  • Algorithm: From the drop-down menu, select the option Round-robin. The same algorithm must be used in all entries.

2.3) Priority:
The line with the highest priority is used to the full. If all the channels are taken up on this line, further calls will be established on the line with the next highest priority.

  • Dynamic line name: Enter a descriptive name. This has to be the same for all entries as this is referenced from the call routes.
  • SIP line name: For each entry, select one of the SIP lines from the drop-down menu.
  • Priority: Enter a priority for each SIP line.
  • Algorithm: From the drop-down menu, select the option Priority. The same algorithm must be used in all entries.

3) Navigate to the menu Voice Call Manager→ Call Router→ Call routing.

4) Remove all call routes for the SIP lines except for the route for first SIP line (in this example the entries for the SIP line WIZ_T-45678 are being deleted).

5) Edit all of the call routes with the first SIP line stored as a Dest. line (in this example WIZ_T-12345).

6) For each one, use the drop-down menu to set the Destination line as the Dynamic line name created in step 2.

7) The call-routing table should appear as shown below.

8) This concludes the configuration of the router. Write the configuration back to the router.
