Description:
This document describes the necessary steps to configure a minimum guaranteed bandwidth for a computer or network in a LANCOM router.


Requirements:


Scenario:
The intranet station 192.168.10.20 requires a guaranteed minimum bandwidth of 256 kbps for HTTP and HTTPS.


Procedure:

If you are using an external modem, you must initially specify the speed of your line or modem. Notes on the configuration are to be found at the end of this document.

1) Start the program LANconfig and double-click on the router. The following is available for selection. Please select Firewall/QoS:
2) Now select the Rules tab and create a new rule with Add:
3) Give the rule a name:
4) Navigate to the Actions tab and delete the action object in the list with the Delete button.
5) Click on the Add... button and select the option Create new action object from the menu.
6) In the following dialog, give the new action object a name.
7) Switch to the Actions tab and click the Add button.
8) In the following dialog select the two options For default route (e.g. Internet) and Transmit.
9) Accept your entries with OK. The new action object has now been created and will appear in the list.
10) Navigate to the QoS tab and click on the option Add → Add custom QoS.
11) Configure the Quality of Service as shown in the following picture.
12) Save the settings with OK. The QoS will be shown in the list.
13) Navigate to the Stations tab. Under Connection source select the option Connections from the following stations.
14) Then click on Add → Add custom station.
15) In the following dialog select the option An IP address or range of addresses and use the two input fields to enter the IP address of the intranet station that requires the guaranteed bandwidth (in our example the one station 192.168.10.20).
16) Save the settings with OK. The entry will be shown in the list.
17) Click on the Services tab. Under Protocols/target services select the option The following protocols/target services.
18) With a click of the Add button you now select the protocols HTTP and then HTTPS.
19) The selected protocols appear in the list.
20) Save the new firewall rule with OK. This concludes the configuration.
21) Finally you have to write the configuration back to the LANCOM router.


Specifying the speed of an external modem:
1. Open LANconfig and go to Interfaces → WAN → Interface settings → DSL. If more than one DSL connection is available, ensure that you select the one you are using.
