This document describes how to configure a LANCOM router as a time server (NTP).


Requirements:
  • LCOS as of version 7 (download)
  • LANtools as of version 7 (download)


Procedure:

To set up a time server in the LANCOM, you first have to make some manual settings.
Do this by starting the LANconfig configuration tool and going to Device -> Configure. From the drop-down menu select
Date & time and the item Synchronization.


    • In this example, the time is to be regularly updated using
PTBTIME1.PTB.DE

You then activate the time server in the Time server menu.



Time setting by Net Time (any MS Windows OS):

Net Time synchronizes the time between public NTPs and the local network.

For this purpose, you can search for local NTP servers:




Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8.x as NTP clients:
    • In MS Windows XP, the 'Date & time properties' provides a function for synchronizing the time with NTP servers. To query the NTP module in the router, simply enter the LAN IP of the router as the server.
