Description: This document describes the IP address and authentication data required to access LANCOM devices.
IP address in factory state: 1) LANCOM routers and access points:- If an unconfigured router or access point is connected to a network with a DHCP server, the device will obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
- If an unconfigured router or access point is connected to a network without a DHCP server, the device analyses the broadcasts to detect the network. The device uses the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and sets its number on this network to 254. Please also see the following article.
Example: A broadcast is received from the IP address 192.168.1.15. The device in this example sets the IP address to 192.168.1.254. - If the network has neither a DHCP server nor any other network participants, the device sets its own address to the default 172.23.56.254.
2) LANCOM switches:- If an unconfigured switch is connected to a network with a DHCP server, the device will obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
- If the switch is connected to a network without a DHCP server, the device sets its own address to the default 172.23.56.250.
