Information:

If you operate an access point of the type LANCOM LX-6500(E) with PoE, the IEEE standard 802.3bt must be used in order to utilize the full functionality of the device.

PoE operation with IEEE 802.3at and 802.3af under LCOS LX up to version 6.12 is possible. However, the device is then restricted by the following functions:

  • If you operate the device with 802.3at, the 6 GHz frequency range is switched off.
  • If you operate the device with 802.3af,
    • the 6 GHz frequency range is switched off,
    • the USB interface is disabled and
    • only a maximum of two streams are available in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.

LANCOM Systems therefore recommends the use of the LANCOM managed switch GS-3528XUP, which supports PoE according to IEEE 802.3bt. If this is not possible, the optionally available power supply or our PoE++ Injector must be used.

As of LCOS LX version 6.14 REL, there are improvements in the operation of the LANCOM LX 6500(E) with PoE according to 802.3at. You can read about the improvements in this Knowledge Base article.
