Description:
This document describes how to update the firmware on LANCOM managed switches.
Requirements:
- LANCOM Managed-Switch of the GS- or XS series
- Web-Browser for configuration:
The following browsers are supported:
- Google Chrome
- Chromium
- Mozilla Firefox
Since LANconfig version 10.4x, updating the switch firmware as well as the automatic check for new firmware versions is not possible without restrictions due to various problems.
Until the LANconfig problems are resolved, we therefore recommend updating via the switch web interface or via LMC. In the LMC, the mechanism for automatic firmware update is possible.
Procedure via the web interface of the switch:
1. Switch with firmware LCOS SX 3.x:
1.1 Download the firmware file from the LANCOM website.
1.2 Open the web interface of the switch and switch to the menu Maintenance → Firmware → Firmware upgrade.
1.3 Click the Browse button and select the downloaded firmware file.
1.4 Then click Upload.
1.5 The upload process is witnessed. After a successful upload, the switch restarts and you must log in to the web interface again.
2. Switch with firmware LCOS SX 4.x:
2.1 Download the firmware file from the LANCOM website.
2.2 Open the web interface of the switch and switch to the menu Maintenance → Firmware → Firmware upgrade.
2.3 Click the Browse button and select the downloaded firmware file.
2.4 Then click Upload. After a successful upload, the switch restarts and you must log in to the web interface again.
3. Switch with firmware LCOS SX 5.x:
3.1 Download the firmware file from the LANCOM website.
3.2 Open the web interface of the switch and go to the menu System→ Firmware → Configuration and Upgrade.
3.3 Click the button next to the version number for the backup firmware.
3.4 Click Browse and select the downloaded firmware file.
3.5 Then click Transfer to start the upload process.
3.6 The version information of the uploaded firmware can be seen in the Backup line after a successful process.
3.7 To make it active now, you must select the version in the Next Active line and click the Submit button.
3.8 Restart the switch once to use the newly uploaded firmware.
