Multicast traffic is usually sent to the entire network. The disadvantage of this is that participants receive this data traffic even if they do not need it. This increases the base load on the network. Using IGMP snooping, it is possible to restrict multicast data traffic to certain switch ports and thus reduce the number of network participants affected.  

This article describes how to set up IGMP snooping on a switch of the GS-3xxx series-Datenverkehr wird normalerweise in das gesamte Netzwerk gesendet. Requirements:

• LCOS SX ab Version as of version 4.00 Rel (download aktuelle Version)
• Beliebiger Web-Browser für den Zugriff auf das Webinterface
• Bereits eingerichtete und funktionsfähige VLANs

Procedure:

Procedure:

1) Connect to the device's web interface and switch to the menu 1. Verbinden Sie sich mit dem Webinterface des Gerätes, wechseln in das Menü System → IP Address → Advanced Settings und klicken auf Add Interface, um einem VLAN eine IP-Adresse zuzuweisenand click Add interface to assign an IP address to a VLAN.

2. Passen Sie die folgenden Parameter an und klicken auf ) Modify the following parameters and then click Apply:

• VLAN: Tragen Sie die Enter the VLAN -ID des Netzwerks ein, in dem Multicast verwendet werden sollID of the network where multicast should be used.
• IPv4 Address: Tragen sie eine IP-Adresse aus dem Netzwerk ein, in dem Multicast verwendet werden sollEnter an IP address from the network where multicast should be used.
• IPv4 Mask Length: Tragen Sie die Subnetzmaske Enter the subnet mask in CIDR-Schreibweise ein (Classless Inter Domain Routing) notation.

3. Wechseln Sie in das Menü ) Change to the menu Multicast → IGMP Snooping → Basic Configuration und passen folgende Parameter an and modify the following parameters:

• Activate IGMP snooping by moving the slider for Snooping Enabled to On.
• Deactivate the option Unregistered IPMCv4 Flooding Enabled to prevent unknown streams from being forwarded to all ports
• Aktivieren Sie das IGMP-Snooping, indem Sie den Schieberegler bei Snooping Enabled auf On setzen.
• Deaktivieren Sie die Option Unregistered IPMCv4 Flooding Enabled, da unbekannte Streams ansonsten an alle Ports weitergeleitet werden. 

4. Aktivieren Sie für den Port, an dem der Multicast-Sender angeschlossen ist, die Option ) For the port that the multicast source is connected to, activate the option Router Port. 

5. Wechseln Sie in das Menü ) Navigate to the menu Multicast → IGMP Snooping → VLAN Configuration, passen folgende Parameter an und klicken auf , modify the following parameters, and click Apply:

• Aktivieren Sie für das VLAN, in dem Multicast verwendet werden soll, die Option For the VLAN where multicast should be used, activate the option Snooping Enabled.
• Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Option Querier Election für jedes VLAN, in dem Multicast verwendet werden soll, aktiviert ist.

6. Klicken Sie nach erfolgter Konfiguration auf das "Disketten-Symbol" in der rechten oberen Ecke, damit die Konfiguration als Start-Konfiguration gespeichert wird.

• Be sure that the option Querier Election is activated for each VLAN where multicast should be used.
