Procedure with LANconfig:

As of LANconfig version 7.80, you can perform firmware upgrades for the LANCOM managed switch GS-2124, the switches of the LANCOM ES-2126 series and the switches of the LANCOM GS-23xx series with the convenient LANconfig program.
    Information:
For the switches LANCOM GS-1224 and LANCOM GS-1224P , firmware upgrades are performed with the switch's own web management interface . The procedure is described in this document.

1) In LANconfig, right-click on the device entry and, from the context menu, select the option Firmware management > Upload new firmware.

2) In the following dialog set the File type to All files and then select the path to the firmware file. Click on Open to start updating the firmware.

3) The status of the update process is displayed in the LANconfig log window. A message is displayed after a successful update.

4) After the update, the switch restarts and is then ready for operation.

Updating using the switch's web interface:

If LANconfig is not available for the firmware update, you can also carry this out with the web interface in the switch. This process differs from model to model.

    LANCOM GS-23xx:

    1) Open the switch's web interface in the browser and enter your access credentials. Navigate to the menu Maintenance -> Firmware -> Firmware Upgrade .

    2) Click on the Browse button in the Firmware Upgrade dialog.

    3) In the next dialog select firmware file to be uploaded and then click on Open .

    4) In the Firmware Upgrade dialog click on the button Upload to start the update process.

    5) After the update, the switch restarts and is then ready for operation.

    LANCOM GS-1224 / LANCOM GS-1224P:

    1) Open the switch's web interface in the browser and enter your access credentials. Navigate to the menu Maintenance -> Software upgrade .

    2) Click on the Browse button in the Software upgrade dialog.

    3) In the next dialog select firmware file to be uploaded and then click on Open .

    4) In the Software upgrade dialog click on the button Upgrade to start the update process.

    5) Current progress is displayed throughout the upgrade process. Please do not turn the unit off during the upgrade process!

    6) Once the firmware file has been successfully loaded into the switch, you will be asked if the uploaded firmware file should now be activated. Click the button Yes to activate the new firmware on the switch.
      Information:
If you click on the No button, the uploaded firmware file is discarded and the switch continues to work with the previous firmware.

    7) After the update, the switch restarts and is then ready for operation.

    LANCOM GS-2124:

    1) Open the switch's web interface in the browser and enter your access credentials. Navigate to the menu Management -> Maintenance -> Firmware upgrade .

    2) Click on the right panel of the window on the button Browse... .

    3) In the next dialog select firmware file to be uploaded and then click on Open .

    4) In the Firmware upgrade dialog click on the button Upgrade to start the update process.

    5) During the upgrade process, the time remaining until the device restarts is displayed in a dialog. Please do not turn the unit off during the upgrade process!

    6) After the update, the switch restarts and is then ready for operation.

    LANCOM ES-2126 / LANCOM ES-2126P / LANCOM ES-2126+ / LANCOM ES-2126P+ :

With the LANCOM ES-2126 series of switches it is only possible to perform a firmware update via the web interface if you operate an external TFTP server . The firmware file for the switch is stored on the external TFTP server and downloaded by the switch to carry out the update.

    1) Open the switch's web interface in the browser and enter your access credentials. Then navigate to the TFTP server menu.

    2) In the Remote TFTP server box enter the IP address of your external TFTP server and click on Apply .
      Information:
These switches feature a built-in TFTP server. LANconfig makes use of this during firmware updates and for making backups of and restoring device configurations. By default, the TFTP server in the switches is enabled. If you disable the built-in TFTP server, LANconfig can no longer use it for firmware updates or to and backup and restore device configurations.

    3) Navigate to the menu Firmware upgrade and enter the path on your external TFTP server containing the firmware file into the field for Path and file name . The path differs depending on the type of TFTP server. Refer to the documentation for your TFTP server for information on the correct syntax.

    4) Click the Upgrade button to start the update. Please do not turn the unit off during the upgrade process!

    4) An animation is displayed in the Firmware upgrade dialog while the switch downloads the firmware file from the external TFTP server. This process may take several minutes to complete.

    5) Once the firmware file has been successfully loaded into the switch, you will be asked if the uploaded firmware file should now be activated. Click the button Save and reboot to activate the new firmware on the switch.
      Information:
If you click on the Reboot button, the uploaded firmware file is discarded and the switch restarts and continues to work with the previous firmware.

    6) After the update, the switch restarts and is then ready for operation.
