Description:

This document describes the necessary steps to transfer the configuration from one LANCOM router model to another LANCOM router model. The LANCOM routers do not have to be of the same type.

It is possible to transfer the existing configuration to different LANCOM routers (e.g. LANCOM 1781A to the successor model LANCOM 1783VA or LANCOM 1781VAW to a LANCOM 1793VAW).

Requirements:

Procedure:

In this example, the existing configuration of a LANCOM 1783VA-4G is to be transferred to a LANCOM 1793VA-4G+.

Configuration transfer from a LANCOM script file (*.lcs):

1) Right-click on the source device (here the LANCOM 1783VA-4G).

2) Select the option Configuration management -> Save as script file

3) In the following dialog, give a file name to the script file and select the location to store it. Click on Save.

4) In LANconfig, right-click on the target device (in this case the LANCOM 1793VA-4G+).

5) Select the option Configuration management -> Restore script from file...

6) In the following dialog you must select the script file stored earlier from the source device (here the LANCOM 1783VA-4G). Click on Open.

7) Since the script file does not contain the main device password , this must be set in the target device after transferring the configuration.

  • To do this, open the configuration dialog for the destination device (in this case the LANCOM  LANCOM 1793VA-4G+) and access the dialog Configuration -> Management -> Admin.

  • In the field Device configuration, enter the main device password.

8) Now close the configuration dialog with the OK button. This concludes the transfer of the configuration.
