Description: This document describes how to set up individual time and/or volume budgets for the users of the LANCOM Public Spot.
A time or volume budget causes a Public Spot user to be logged off from the Public Spot when they reach the time limit or the maximum permitted data volume. They then no longer have access to the Public Spot.
Requirements: - LANCOM router or LANCOM access point with activated LANCOM Public Spot Option

Procedure: 1) Enable the accounting function on the RADIUS server A basic prerequisite for using the time and/or volume budget is the operation of the accounting function in the RADIUS server on the LANCOM router or access point. To enable the accounting function, you proceed as follows:
1.1) Open the
LANconfig configuration dialog and go to the menu
RADIUS server -> General.
1.2) In the
Accounting port field, enter the value
1.813.
1.3) Navigate to the menu
Public Spot -> Users -> RADIUS server. 1.4) Open the configured entry and enter into the field
Acc. server IP address the value
127.0.0.1. In the field
Acc. server port, enter the value
1.813.
1.5) Close the configuration dialogs with
OK and write the new configuration back to the LANCOM router or access point.
2) Creating a Public Spot account 2.1) Use WEBconfig to open the configuration of the LANCOM router or access point, go to the menu
Setup Wizards and select the option
Create Public Spot Account.
2.2) Use the field
Time budget to enter the desired maximum
access time in minutes.
2.3) Use the field
Volume budget to enter the desired maximum
data volume in MB yte.
2.4) Click the button
Create and print to complete the process.
2.5) A
page containing the generated access credentials is displayed. It also shows the specified
time and volume budgets. You can print out this page and hand it to the Public Spot user.
3) Configuring the time and volume budget with the Smart Ticket function: The
Smart Ticket function (sending user data via e-mail or SMS) allows you to
globally specify the time and/or volume budgets which should apply to all Public Spot users.

3.1) Using WEBconfig, open the configuration of the LANCOM router or access point and navigate to the menu
LCOS menu tree -> Setup -> Public Spot module -> Authentication modules -> User template.
3.2) You can adjust the values by
clicking on the options
Volume budget or
Time budget.
