Description:

This document describes the steps necessary to configure a VPN connection that always stays open.

Requirements:
  • The latest LCOS firmware (download)
  • The latest LANtools (download)
  • A VPN connection as set up with the Setup Wizard

Procedure:
Please note that a single VPN connection is sufficient to prevent an Internet connection from terminating during the short hold time. The basis for an uninterrupted VPN connection must be a permanent Internet connection.
1) The configured VPN peer is to be found under VPN → VPN connections list.
2) Among other things, the short hold time is specified here. The short hold time is specified in seconds, but there are also two special entries with the following functions:

  • A hold time of "0" means that the tunnel will not be actively terminated at this end. However, if the tunnel is otherwise terminated or interrupted, it will not be automatically reestablished. The connection will only be reestablished when communication is required of it.
  • A hold time of "9999" means that the connection is permanently kept open. If it is interrupted, then the connection will be actively opened up again. This behavior is known as KeepAlive.
