Description:

This document describes the meanings of the colours in the firmware information of the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC).

Requirements:

  • Access to the LMC (fee required)
  • Functioning project in the LMC

Procedure:

The display of the firmware information in the LMC depends on the decision whether the LCOS Auto Updater is used in the project settings or not.

Therefore, both variants (with global use of the Auto Updater and without) are described in this document.

1. Using the LCOS Auto Updater (default setting):

The LCOS Auto Updater is available from LCOS v10.20. LCOS-based routers and access points as well as LCOS-LX access points are supported. LCOS-FX and LCOS-SX are currently not supported.

In the default settings of an LMC project, the Auto Updater is activated in the mode "Use device-specific settings".

This uses the firmware update settings that are set in the configuration of the LANCOM device. We describe here the default setting in the LCOS and LCOS LX configuration (see following figure).

PresentationDescription

The current firmware is installed, which is set according to the update strategy in the detailed configuration of the unit.

When using the Auto Updater in the LMC, the version information is always preceded by a symbol with a small "A" in the middle.

The automatic firmware update failed or the update server could not be reached by the unit.

Check the device log in the LMC and the local communication, among other things, to determine the reason for the failure. Troubleshooting help is available in this article.

2. LCOS Auto Updater is not used:

PresentationDescription

The current firmware is installed, which is set according to the update strategy in the detailed configuration of the unit.

The firmware of the unit is out of date and a new version is available for updating. You can update the firmware manually.
