Description:

This document describes how to change the 2.4-GHz or the 5-GHz mode on the wireless LAN access points of the LX and LW series operating with LCOS LX. It describes the procedure with LANconfig and with the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC).

Requirements:

Procedure:

1. Standalone access point with LANconfig:

1.1) Open the configuration of the device in LANconfig and go to the menu item Wireless-LAN → WLAN-Networks → Radio-Settings.

1.2) Select one of the two WLAN interfaces.

1.3) By default, the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz modes are set to Auto. This setting adapts the mode to the one suggested or preferred by the WLAN client.

If, for example, you do not want to use the IEEE 802.11ax mode, you set a mode for 2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz that does not contain the letters “ax” (e.g. 11gn-mixed for 2.4 GHz and/or 11nac-mixed for 5 GHz).

1.4) Repeat these steps for the second WLAN interface, if applicable.

1.5) You can now write the configuration back to the device.

2. Using LANconfig for an access point managed by WLC:

2.1) Open the configuration of the WLC in LANconfig and navigate to the menu WLAN Controller → Profiles → Physical WLAN parameters.

2.2) Select the WLAN parameter profile that you have assigned to your managed LCOS-LX access points.

2.3) By default, the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz modes are set to Auto. This setting adapts the mode to the one suggested or preferred by the WLAN client.

If, for example, you do not want to use the IEEE 802.11ax mode, you set a mode for 2.4-GHz and/or 5-GHz that does not contain the letters “ax” (e.g. IEEE 802.11g/n (mixed) for 2.4 GHz and/or IEEE 802.11n/ac (mixed) for 5 GHz).

2.4) Write the configuration back to the WLC.

3. Standalone access point with the LMC:

3.1) Open the Detail configuration of the device in the LMC and go to the menu item Wireless-LAN → WLAN-Networks → Radio-Settings.

3.2) Select one of the two WLAN interfaces.

3.3) By default, the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz modes are set to Auto.

3.4) Repeat these steps for the second WLAN interface, if applicable.

3.5) You can now write the configuration back to the device.

4. Using the LMC for an access point managed by WLC:

4.1) Open the Detail configuration of the WLC in the LMC and navigate to the menu WLAN Controller → Profiles → Physical WLAN parameters.

4.2) Select the WLAN parameter profile that you have assigned to your managed LCOS-LX access points.

4.3) By default, the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz modes are set to Auto. This setting adapts the mode to the one suggested or preferred by the WLAN client.

If, for example, you do not want to use the IEEE 802.11ax mode, you set a mode for 2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz that does not contain the letters “ax” (e.g. IEEE 802.11g/n (mixed) for 2.4 GHz and/or IEEE 802.11n/ac (mixed) for 5 GHz).

4.4) You can now write the configuration back to the device.
