Description:

As of LCOS version 10.40, some LCOS functions are no longer available and other existing functions now have different behavior.

This document describes the changes made in LCOS 10.40 and provides important information for you to consider before updating the firmware.

Requirements:

Procedure:

1) LCOS features that are deprecated with version 10.40:

1.1) In the configuration of IPSec proposals for IKEv1 IPSec connections, the configuration of an Authentication Header (AH) proposal and compression are deprecated.

IMPORTANT:
If you use the compression feature for your IPSec proposals, you have to deactivate this for each proposal BEFORE updating to LCOS 10.40 (value: No IPCOMP).

1.2) The IPv4 routing table no longer features a multicast blocking route.

An update to LCOS 10.40 automatically removes this from the IPv4 routing table. The previous function of this route is now handled by the new implementation of multicast routing with LCOS 10.40.

1.3) The former option of time-dependent IPv4 default routes (in the menu IP router → Routing → Time-dependent control) is deprecated as of LCOS 10.40.

1.4) As of  LCOS 10.40, MAC addresses are no longer supported as destinations in firewall rules. A station object created under Firewall/QoS →  IPv4 rules → Firewall objects → Station objects cannot be used as a destination object in a firewall rule.

IMPORTANT:
If your IPv4 firewall rules use MAC addresses in the Destination column (connection destination), this configuration will continue to function after an update to LCOS 10.40 or higher.

However, any change to the configuration cannot be written back to the device because of the missing parameter. In this case, you must remove the MAC addresses from the destination column BEFORE changing the configuration.

2) LCOS features with changes to their previous behavior as of version 10.40:

2.1) Configuring the IPv4 or IPv6 routing table via SNMP now requires the updated LANCOM SNMP device MIB with the version LCOS 10.40. How you generate the SNMP device MIB is described in the LCOS Reference Manual.

2.2) As of LCOS 10.40, the newly implemented IGMP proxy takes over IPv4 multicast routing in an IPTV configuration (e.g. Telekom Entertain Connection). Any existing IPTV configuration is automatically adjusted when you update to LCOS version 10.40 or later.

2.3) The display of the current IPv4 routing table (in the LCOS path /Status/IP-Router/Act.-IPv4-Routing-Tab.) has been changed for technical reasons (see following figure).

2.4) Entering show vpn displays the IKEv2 default VPN rule on the command line.

2.5) In the configuration of an IPv4 routing rule (in the menu IP router → Routing → IPv4 routing table), the features “RIP distance” and “conditional only affect routes managed by the RIP protocol.
