Description:

As of LANtools version 8.50, the installation path for the program and user data of the LANtools has been changed. The LANtools now use the default folders as required by Windows.

Installation path with Windows XP and Windows 2003:

With Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server, the user data are found under C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Application Data\LANCOM\ and the program data are found under C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data\LANCOM\.

Installation path with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 2008 Server:

With the operating systems Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 2008 Server you will find the user data under C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\LANCOM\ and the program data under C:\ProgramData\LANCOM\.

Information:
  • If you update from an older version of LANtools to version 8.50, the existing user and program data are moved from the previous installation folders to the corresponding new installation folders.

If you downgrade from LANtools 8.50 to an older version of LANtools, the original installation paths for user and program data come into effect once again. If the move data command was correctly executed during the upgrade, then new user and program data files were created. If you wish to return to using the original user and program data, then back-up copies must be made before the upgrade: After the downgrade, manually restore these data files before you start the application.

As a fundamental principle there is no guarantee that new user and program data can be used with old program versions, and doing so is done at your own risk.
  • What's more, when multiple installations of LANtools 8.50 are operated in parallel, the paths in the installation folder are extended by an extra directory level.

For instance, with three parallel installations of LANtools 8.50, the file lanconf.ini would be saved to the installation path "C:\ProgramData\LANCOM\Install3\LANconfig\lanconf.ini".
