Description:
When setting up one or more WAN connections on the LANCOM vRouter, please observe the instructions in this document.

Requirements:
  • The LANCOM vRouter is available as an OVA file (download).
  • VMware ESXi 6.0.0 or higher is running on a server with the Intel XEON processor with the AES extended instruction set (Intel AES-NI) and hardware virtualization (Intel VT-x).
  • VMware vSphere Client 6.0.0 or later must be installed on the device that is used to access the VMware ESXi server.
  • The virtual machine must meet the following minimum requirements:
    • 1 virtual x86 CPU
    • 512 MiB RAM
    • 512 MiB hard drive memory
    • 1–5 virtual network interfaces based on VMXnet3

1) WAN connection(s) via separate physical uplinks:
1.1) When one or more WAN links are connected via separate physical uplinks (e.g. ETH-1 = DSL-1, ETH-2 = DSL-2, etc.), the MAC address type in the configuration for each WAN remote station must be set to the parameter Global.
1.2) In the case of the vSwitch operated in ESXi, the Promiscuous mode must also be set to the parameter Deny. You do this in the configuration of ESXi under Network → vSwitch → Properties → vSwitch → Security.

2) WAN links on a physical uplink:
2.1) If multiple WAN connections are bundled via a single physical uplink (e.g. ETH-1 and separation into VLANs, such as for T-Entertain), the MAC address type in the configuration of the WAN remote station must be set to the parameter Local.
2.2) In the case of the vSwitch operated in ESXi, the Promiscuous mode must also be set to the parameter Accept. You do this in the configuration of ESXi under Network → vSwitch → Properties → vSwitch → Security.
