Description:

This document describes how you set up a Public Spot scenario with a local subdomain for one or more guest networks, and then how to send a link to the login page of the Public Spot together with the login credentials via SMS or e-mail.


Requirements:
  • LANCOM WLAN router, WLC, or access point with an activated LANCOM Public Spot Option.



Scenario:

1) A company provides its guests with two Public Spot wireless networks, which are configured as a subdomain.

2) The main domain of this company is office.internal, the management LAN & WLAN are accessible via this main domain.

3) The guest networks are to be available as the subdomain guest.office.internal.

4) When guests use e-mail or SMS to login to the Public Spot WLAN, a link to the login page should be included in the sent credentials and used in the subdomain name.



Procedure:

1) Create the subdomain for the guest network:

1.1) In LANconfig, open the configuration dialog for the LANCOM and switch to the menu item Configuration -> IPv4 -> DNS.

In the field Own domain, enter the domain name to be used for the company network. In this example, this is office.internal.

1.2) Click the button Subdomain and configure a domain name for the guest network.



1.3) In this example, the first guest network has the network name HOTSPOT_1 and the second guest network has the network name HOTSPOT_2. Since than subdomain should be guest.office.internal, enter guest into the the subdomain field.



1.4) Close the dialogs with the OK button and write the configuration back to the LANCOM.


2) Insert the link to the Public Spot login page into the message along with the login credentials:

2.1) Change to the menu Public Spot -> E-mail or Public Spot -> SMS.

2.2) Click the E-mail body button.



2.3) Supplement the predefined text with the link to the login page of the Public Spot network for guests.

2.4) Close the dialogs with the OK button and write the configuration back to the LANCOM.
