Description:

When a lot of sites have to be created or updated in the LANCOM management Cloud, this can take a lot of time, if it has to be done manually. To optimize this process, site information can be entered in a CSV file and imported into the LMC.

This article describes how to create or update sites in the LMC by means of using a CSV file.

Networks must have already been created in the LMC in order for the CSV import to work. The network information contained in the CSV file only supports updating existing networks.

Requirements:

  • Access to the LANCOM Management Cloud (subject to charge) with existing LMC project and licenses for all used LANCOM devices
  • Already configured networks in the LMC
  • Any web browser for accessing the LMC
  • Spreadsheet tool for editing the CSV file

Procedure:

1) Preparing the CSV file:

1.1) Download the CSV file under the following link. It contains all available parameters for the site import as well as several example entries for better understanding. The example file therefore is a good base for the creation of your own CSV files for importing sites into the LMC.

https://cloud.lancom.de/cloud-service-jobs/assets/examples/example_site_import_utf-8.csv

1.2) Delete the example entries and enter your site information. The available parameters are described as follows. For the sake of clarity these are structured into several topic areas.

Only the Site Name is mandatory, all other parameters are optional.

If a parameter is not used, the label NOT_IN_USE has to be entered in the respective field.

If a site contains several networks and these networks should be updated, a separate table row with the same Site Name has to be created for each network

  • Site Information:
    • Site Name: Site name in the LMC (e.g. Headquarter)

    • Latitude: Specifies the latitude, supports values between -90 and 90

    • Longitude: Specifies the longitude, supports values between -180 and 180

    • Street: Specifies the street name and house number

    • Zip Code: Specifies the postal code

    • City: Specifies the city

    • Country: Specifies the country (e.g. DE or GB)

  • Network Information:
    • Network Name: Name of the network to be assigned to the site

    • Address Mode: The CSV import only supports manual network specifications (option: MANUELL)

    • IPv4 Address: Specifies the IP addresss in CIDR notation

    • IPv4 Subnet Gateway: Index of the gateway in the network

  • DHCP Information:
    • DHCPv4: Specifies DHCP mode (MASTER, RELAY, OFF)

      • For DHCP mode Master:

        • DHCPv4 Range Start: First IP address of the DHCP address range

        • DHCPv4 Range End: Last IP address of the DHCP address range

        • DHCPv4 Gateway: IP address of the gateway in the network

        • DHCPv4 DNS1: First DNS server in the network

        • DHCPv4 DNS2: Second DNS server in the network

      • For DHCP mode Relay:

        • DHCPv4 Relay Master Server 1: IP address of the first Relay server

        • DHCPv4 Relay Master Server 2: IP address of the second Relay server

        • DHCPv4 Relay Master Server 3: IP address of the third Relay server

        • DHCPv4 Relay Master Server 4: IP address of the fourth Relay server

  • Variables

    • var_AddinVar1: Placeholder for a variable, has to be replaced by the desired variable (e.g. var_Rollout). The desired value for the variable has to be entered in the respective field for the site (for selection via a dropdown menu only one of the available options, for a free text field any text). It is possible to specify several variables by adding a separate column for each variable name.

  • Zscaler Information: (only if Internet access via Zscaler is used)

    • Zscaler Server Url: Primary server URL

    • Zscaler Backup Server Url: Backup server URL

    • Zscaler Identity: Zscaler user name

    • Zscaler Shared Secret: Zscaler password

2) Importing the CSV file into the LMC:

2.1) Connect to the LMC and go to the menu Sites → CSV import.

2.2) Select the CSV file with the sites prepared in step 1), change the Encoding to match the format of the CSV file if needed and click Upload

2.3) The Validation is performed automatically and the Validation Results are shown. Click Import sites afterwards.

2.4) The Import is performed automatically and status information is shown in the Results page. Click Close afterwards.

2.5) This concludes the import process. The sites can now be used in the LMC.
